Cricut Criss Cross

I've not felt much like creating, but I knew that I had to get a couple of cards done for this week. My son's 17th birthday is Monday, and that card needed to be done today since we have church tomorrow. That card is made and sealed, so I can't share it.

We have a deacon family child that has a birthday on Saturday, so that card needs to get sent out by Wednesday. Our monthly Quacker challenges gave me some inspiration for that card. Here is the challenge card, though.

This card is done all in Bold Brights (the challenge was to do a card using only one color family and a neutral) and the set Bugs and Wishes. Only Orange, Real Red, and Tempting Turquoise papers were used along with Whisper White. Tempting Turquoise brads were used to embellish the sides. The little lady bug from the SU set was stamped in Only Orange on the orange background.

The Cricut is perfect for helping to cut cards with more complicated cuts or with many parts. Why not use it to create a Criss Cross card as explained on SCS. This one is not embellished at all, but ALL of the parts were cut from the Cricut. I'm excited that I will be able to get my bug to do all of the work, and in the future, I can just debate how I want to decorate and embellish these fun cards. On this one, I used Basic Black, Whisper White, and SU designer paper. Taffeta ribbon is used as the pull. The inside is stamped lightly with Simply Said.

More later this week! Hope you sleep well, dream big, laugh often, smile much, pray incessantly, and have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!!!

Finally creating

Jonah has a friend's birthday party on Saturday, and I love the kid. So, I made him a card tonight using my Cricut. Jonah bought a Cuttlekids machine yesterday with a coupon for 50% off at Michael's. He used his new toy to create his card.

He used a bunch of his new CK dies. He stamped the Happy Birthday and made his own notes on the card. Basically, all of the critters were singing happy birthday to his friend. :)

Last weekend, we had a party for Jonah and Jared's birthdays and went to play paintball. Yep ... even I played. Jonah's friend was there, and I designed his card around the paintball theme. I used the musket from Paper Dolls and the splats from Dreams Come True. Behind the gun and paint splats, I stamped trees, grass, and a sun. I colored the sky with WWC and an aquapainter. The scene was stamped with a long-retired SU set. I have no idea what the name is.

I also started another Explosion Box for someone for Mother's Day. I haven't added embellishments, but I have the box made. I am using pink and brown as the color combo for this one. The paper came from a kit that I bought at Hobby Lobby on Monday night (for 50% off!!).

Here's the box closed with the top.

Here's the box open. I can't wait to put some pictures and embellies on this one. :)

More coming on Saturday (or maybe tomorrow if I get a chance!).

Until then, sleep well, dream big, laugh often, smile much, pray incessantly, and have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!!

Goodness!! It seems like forever since any creating has gone on in this house. I'm so sorry. Our week has been very busy, and our weekend was, too.

Today, I cut a Door Card with my Cricut and the software. I think I will do a few things differently next time, but I don't think it turned out badly for the first one. The white squares were punched with the big, SU, square punch. The flower and shadow were cut from George and the door card was designed using just shapes from George. The card was cut from So Saffron, the squares from Whisper White, and the shadow from Basic Black. A small, flower brad adorns the center of the cut flower. The scene in the squares was stamped with WWC using the Pretty Amazing stamp set.

Here's the card open. I re-stamped the 'scene' on there just as it is on the front, but without the butterfly and hummingbird.

Not sure when I can create again, but I have several .cut files created that I really want to try. Hopefully, I can soon.

I'm playing paintball with my 2 oldest kids tomorrow. We'll see how *that* goes .....

Sleep well, dream big, laugh often, smile much, pray incessantly, and have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow. :)

QSS Reveal Night

Tonight's the night, and it means that I can share my creations with you. Whew. It was hard keeping them to myself!!!!

This is my About Me page. I used my Cricut and software for it. It's an 8x8 page, and I put the black behind it to make it more defined.

The little door behind the picture opens to the 'About Me' information. I used waves on the door, too, to keep with the Quacker theme. :)

Another requirement we had for our package was a recipe page. This is my page. I didn't have a crock pot stamp or die cut, so I made it with the CDS. I thought it turned out pretty good. I've not done a recipe page before. This one is a 6x6 page on caramel paper.

My QSS said that she wanted an example of the explosion box - the one that can hold several photos. Here's the first one that I've done. I hope she likes it and that she adds pictures that she can enjoy. I used a Cricut file to make it and the top. All SU papers were used except for the patterned paper on top.

The box open.

The box top closed ...................

I truly hope my friend enjoys her stuff. I really enjoyed putting it all together for her. She's a beautiful person and a great friend.

Have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!!

Quick Sneak Peek

I still can't show all of the stuff for my QSS - our reveal is on Wednesday!! - but I thought I would show you a little box that I put in the box for her daughter. It's a tiny gable box. The .cut file is here. This was the first one that I have done, so I wasn't quite sure where the scores needed to go.

I just hope she likes it!!

Have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.

Tagged...

Hmmmmm ... Not quite sure how to do this, but I've been tagged by Gale. She's a fellow Crictueer and has a fun blog to visit.

Here's what I have to do and what those that I tag need to do ....

1. Link to the person that tagged you and leave a comment on their Blog.
2. Post the rules on your Blog.
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself on your Blog
4. Tag 7 random people, linking to their Blog. Let each person know by leaving a comment on their Blog.

Ok, seven random facts about me? Here we go ....

1. I'm a hoarder. I hate to spend gift cards and hesitate in using embellishments or paper. When I clean my Haven, I find tons and tons of stuff that I've forgotten I have because I don't want to use it .... yet.

2. My favorite thing to drink is sweet ice tea. I will drink it when it's hot or when it's freezing cold. I have to have it with LOTS of ice and no lemon.

3. I'm addicted to Quacking and to SCS. I love chatting with my online buddies.

4. I love the tactile feel of writing. I usually physically write something before I type it just because I enjoy it.

5. I love music of all kinds. The only music that I can only take in small doses is jazz and opera. I don't like rap, but I don't consider that music. :)

6. I've homeschooled my kids since they were born. My oldest will 'graduate' next spring.

7. I have a fantastic life and am very spoiled. I'm very, very blessed with my family.

Tagged friends are ....

1. Kim
2. Jennifer
3. Krista
4. Kathy
5. Rachel
6. Amy
7. Dell

Hopefully, I will create this afternoon or tomorrow. I will post here if I can!

Have a great, big, beautiful TODAY! :)
